Electrical Engineer

The Engineer, Building Electrical Services is responsible for overseeing all electrical maintenance activities/work required for the facilities of a building. The scope of the job covers actual supervision on contractor engineers and technicians, preparation and monitoring of maintenance budgets, physical inspection of faculties and stock of materials. The job also has a developmental element as well as responsibility for occupational safety in application of electrical maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities

• Proposes, advises and facilitates the implementation, coordination and completion of electrical maintenance programs and budgets PM (Preventive Maintenance) programs by managing projects from start-up through completion. Generates budget proposals related to PM Programs. Reviews and manages project budgets on a regular basis to include review and approval of all invoices prior to payment submission.
• Directly supervises the electrical contractors/vendors to ensure timely completion of maintenance projects. Review PM programs to ensure electrical contractors/vendors are in compliance with the organization contract requirements. Identifies any deficiencies and notifies electrical contractors/vendors to ensure corrections are made as PM programs progress.
• Inspects and reviews existing electrical facilities and systems to determine level and extent of maintenance required to meet the organizations guidelines or standards. Advise his superior of major problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Refers and checks manuals/reference guides etc, for electrical specifications and manufactures instructions. Reviews "Recommended Manufactures" maintenance schedules and develops an appropriate PM schedule to ensure yearly service and maintenance agreements are completed.
• Ensures availability and adequate electrical stock of spare parts, consumable, tools and other material. Check quality of spares received from stores and supplier.

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Five years experience in an Electrical Maintenance environment out of which is 3 years in the field.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
